The Hospital is located in SouthWest Tehran, in the densely populated area of Valiasr. The Hospital grounds cover approximately 20,000 square meters with a total building area of 17,000 square meters over six floors.
The Hospital is a non-profit treatment center, which is under the supervision of the Organization of Endowment and Charity (ﺳﺎزﻣﺎن اوقاف و امور خیریه) and supported by donors. Substantially all revenues generated by the Hospital are expended on conducting hospital matters and charitable intentions benefiting the local community. Recognizing the needs of the people, Haj Alinaghi Ghiassi, the predecessor of the founders of the Ghiassi Hospital, in his will in 1952, wished to dedicate one-third of his property to establish a charity in the area of Naziabad and Wasafnard, the present location of the Hospital to help the needy and orphans.
In 1958, after his passing, and in order to fulfill his bequest, an orphanage was established. Then, in 1961, his heirs constructed a 1,200 square-meter medical clinic on a 20,000 square-meter land plot donated by his wife (the late Mrs. Soghrah Ghiassi) to provide health-care services to residents of the area.
Recognizing the lack of specialized facilities in the region, the Board of Trustees of The Ghiassi Charity expanded the scope of activities by converting the clinic to a full-service hospital. This goal was achieved in 1999 by obtaining the necessary permissions. In addition, the Hospital managed to obtain permits for 200 beds.
